Its supposed to be a much weaker barbarian and much weaker druid but with lots of fluff and versatility compare to its powerful single class cousins. Instead of being a barbarian/druid who is very limited compared to both classes, you have an insane tank that eats damage like its nothing. Then what? Lame ability, empty level, empty level, level 20? Why when you can go class x Earlier that fills those slots with more bonuses, and caps off with a strong ability that mixes with your main class abilities? There is nothing in the game to make people think twice about doing this, you have your max pro bonus before 20th level. So why not start one class then multi class into the other longer lasting class and never have the empty levels? But then the last few levels are kinda lame and empty. Meanwhile other classes may get incredible abilities/benefits all the way up to level 15-16. But really its that inital ability that makes it so cool. Problem is later levels dont always match up. So youd pick that class and play through getting all sorts of warlock and hexblades abilities and bonuses right? Stuff like Hex blades seem pretty damn powerful at level 3. They want subclasses to try and have more important class features early on so they seem fun to play as early on. There are so many changes with the warlock that I still have a lot to sort through before I fully make up my mind. I'm struggling to see why I'd take a warlock to high levels instead of just taking a few levels and then leaving for a better class. The Pact Spells are all good and solve some problems, but it is weird choice that they're spells.īeing able to choose your casting stat opens up a lot of opportunities, and I think makes them even more of a class to dip your toes into. It also works just as well with other cantrips with allows for different styles of play, but is overall weaker. Hex is probably worse for EB spam because it doesn't scale with attacks, but it does scale per level however, those higher level spell slots come much later. The invocation tax for higher level spells is a big nerf, and removal of Pact magic for traditional spell slots could be a blessing or a curse depending on your table. Warlock is definitely the most changed class. Please instead reply in the ongoing threads rather than making new ones.įeel free to add to the community resource folder and the resource list.
